ASU Research Update – TOMNET

The US Department of Transportation recently awarded a five-year University Transportation Center (UTC) to a consortium of universities led by Arizona State University (ASU).  The consortium, called the Center for Teaching Old Models New Tricks (TOMNET), is dedicated to developing the next generation of travel demand forecasting model systems that reflect the effects of future mobility options and technologies on traveler behavior, values, and attitudes.  The Center has launched a series of projects aimed at understanding traveler behavior, and the likely adoption, usage, and impacts of various transformational transportation technologies.

Ram M. Pendyala, Professor & Interim Director at the ASU School of Sustainable Engineering & the Built Environment, will provide an overview of the work of the center including ongoing research activities, technology transfer activities, and workforce development initiatives.  In addition, the presentation will describe partnerships that the center is advancing to foster greater industry-university-agency collaboration.
