Arizona STEP Team Hosting Free Training Workshop: Designing for Pedestrian Safety

The Arizona Safe Transportation for Every Pedestrian (STEP) Team cordially invites you to participate in a free training workshop, “Designing for Pedestrian Safety.” This course is being offered FREE of charge, a $440.00 registration savings. This is a course developed by Federal Highways and offered at the National Highway Institute and/or as a locally hosted course. Attached are the Instructor Bios for Mr. Keith Sinclair of FHWA and Mr. Mike Cynecki of Lee Engineering.

This course was developed for engineers, planners, traffic safety and enforcement professionals, public health and injury prevention professionals, and decision-makers who have the responsibility of improving pedestrian safety at the state, tribal and/or local level.  The training course includes a field exercise in the application of the principles, concepts, and strategies covered in the course. In addition, the participants will share and prioritize potential policies, programs, and strategies.

There are 2 sessions available, each are 2 days in length and will be presented at the following locations and times:

Flagstaff, Arizona;

Date: October 7-8, 2019 from 08:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Location: Summit Fire District Station 32, 8905 Koch Field Rd. Flagstaff AZ

Tucson, Arizona;

Date: October 10-11, 2019 from 08:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Location: AZ Dept. of Transportation Southcentral District, 1221 S. Second Ave, Tucson, AZ

Registration: To register yourself to attend one of these two sessions, simply send an email to Jeffrey.king@dot.gov indicating which session you plan to attend and he will sign you up and reserve your seat.

Logistics: As indicated both sessions will include a field exercise, so please remember to bring your traffic vests, hat (we will not require hard hat, but your agency may have a policy), and sunscreen if you wish.  It’s in October but it is also Arizona sun.

This course provides you with a Certificate for 13 hours of instruction and Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Seats are limited to 30 at each location so act quickly!
