Future City Competition – Arizona Regionals – Need Judges!

The Future City Competition – Arizona Regionals is coming up soon and we need your help to judge the entries for Arizona ITE’s Best Multi-Modal Transportation System award.

If you haven’t yet participated in the Future City Competition, I highly encourage you to do so. It is a great opportunity to see the variety of Future City models up close, hear the students’ presentations and encourage these young students to continue to be involved in STEM activities.

This year’s theme is Powering Our Future! Teams will design a resilient power grid for their future city that can withstand and quickly recover from the impacts of a natural disaster, in addition to carefully and systematically preparing for all major aspects that go into planning the city of the future. More info on the competition and event details are available at

The Phoenix Burton Barr Library is back in business, and we are returning to a format like years prior, with participation in the following two activities:

• Mon-Fri, January 14-18, 2019: Visit the library sometime during this window to pre-judge the entries (Typical effort 2-3+ hrs)
• Saturday, January 19th, 2019: Attend Arizona Regional Finals at Casteel High School – 24901 S. Power Road, Queen Creek, AZ 85142. (Complete by noon, representative to stay and present award mid-afternoon)

Please contact me ASAP if you are interested in serving as a judge, as there are additional registration steps that need to be completed as well as a brief training session.

David Lucas
Arizona ITE President
